MS433015

1-Azido-1-deoxy-β-D-Galactopyranoside (Peracetate)

A glycosyl azide bearing an anomeric (β) azide on D-Gal. The anomeric azide can be coupled to alkynes via copper-catalyzed azide-alkyne cycloaddition (CuAAC) or to DBCO and related strained alkynes via copper-free click chemistry, forming stable 1,2,3-triazole linkages. Used as a click-chemistry building block for the synthesis of N-glycosyl triazoles and glycoconjugates, and as a glycosyl donor surrogate in glycoscience research. The sugar hydroxyl groups are protected as acetate esters (peracetate); these groups keep the glycosyl azide inert during synthesis and can be removed by mild base treatment.
