MUC7

MUCIN7 (MUC7) is a mucin glycoprotein primarily found in saliva and respiratory mucosa, known for its protective and lubricating functions. It has been investigated as a potential biomarker in oral, breast and respiratory cancers, where alterations in its expression may indicate disease progression. While research on MUC7-specific vaccines is limited, therapeutic strategies could potentially target its role in mucosal immunity to develop novel treatments for mucosa-associated cancers.
