Sussex Research Laboratories Inc. is pleased to announce the promotion of Dr. Ryan P. Sweeney to Associate Director of Carbohydrate Chemistry earlier this year! Ryan earned his Ph.D. from the University of Alberta under the supervision of Professor Todd Lowary, where he specialized in the chemical synthesis of complex carbohydrates and vaccine development. He subsequently completed postdoctoral training at the The University of British Columbia in the laboratory of Professor Stephen Withers, expanding his expertise to include molecular biology and enzymology. Since joining Sussex Research in 2023, Ryan has made significant contributions to advancing our glycoscience capabilities and strengthening our technical leadership.
In celebrating this huge milestone, Ryan will be attending The Canadian Glycomics Symposium (CGS) hosted by the Canadian Glycomics Network (GlycoNet) on May 12–14, 2026 in Canmore at the Coast Canmore Hotel & Conference Centre. The GCS brings together researchers, industry leaders, and innovators to showcase the latest advances in glycoscience and explore new opportunities for collaboration.
