O-glycosylation is a post-translational modification that occurs at serine or threonine after a protein has been synthesized. The Core 1 O-glycan is a disaccharide that forms the core of many longer, more complex structures on glycoproteins and mucins formed by the addition of a galactose sugar onto the initial GalNAc of the TF antigen.
